Menachem is a single father and full of concern for his critically ill six-year-old daughter Geula, whom he educates according to the rules of the Jewish Orthodox faith. Because his salary isn’t enough to pay the rising medical bills for Geula’s cancer treatment, Menachem decides to reassemble his former rock band and earn some extra money by performing at weddings. The band can quickly build on their success of the past, and the now deeply religious Menachem finds himself back in a world that seemed far away during the last years. The new rock’n’roll life is hard to reconcile with his orthodox beliefs and forces him to rethink his way of life, his past and his ambitions.
Redemption is a powerful yet gentle film that refuses simple answers and is deeply moving through its sensitive acting and its engaging music.
